Alexis Sanchez's home 'seized by Spanish government'

Arsenal striker Alexis Sanchez's home is reportedly seized by the Spanish government as part of their investigation into alleged tax evasion.

Arsenal striker Alexis Sanchez's home in Spain has reportedly been seized by the government as they continue to investigate allegations of tax evasion.

The 27-year-old, who had three years with Barcelona before his switch to the Gunners in 2014, is accused of failing to pay £3.12m tax on image rights during his time with the Catalan giants.

Tax officials allege that he instead transferred the rights to a shell company in Malta called Numidia Trading, in which he has a 99% share, in order to avoid paying the tax.

According to Mundo Deportivo, the Chilean's old four-bedroom home in Barcelona has now been seized pending the outcome of their investigation.

Sanchez's agent has previously said of the claims: "Alexis Sanchez has perfectly obeyed every one of the laws imposed by the countries where he has resided. We ask the press and public at large for the utmost respect until the completion of the ongoing administrative and judicial process."

Sanchez is the fifth former or current Barca player to be caught up in the investigation, with Lionel Messi, Samuel Eto'o, Adriano and Javier Mascherano also having been fingered by authorities.
