New Zealand open to appointing overseas netball coach

Netball New Zealand confirms that it is open to an overseas coach taking charge of the Silver Ferns.

Netball New Zealand chief executive Hilary Poole has confirmed that an overseas coach will be considered as Wai Taumaunu's replacement.

The Silver Ferns' assistant coach Robyn Broughton recently claimed that a New Zealander should take on the role, but the search has been widened.

"We are very much of the view that it will be the best person for the job and yes if they were from offshore we would [appoint them]," Radio New Zealand quotes Poole as saying.

"It's just really got to be the best person as that's the most important thing for Netball New Zealand and netball in New Zealand."

Taumaunu will leave her role at the end of next month's Constellation Cup series against Australia.
