Dario Franchitti wins Indianapolis 500

Dario Franchitti has won his third Indianapolis 500 following a narrow finish on Sunday.

Japan's Takuma Sato crashed on the final lap as he tried to overtake the Scot on the famous track.

Scott Dixon finished second, while Tony Kanaan claimed third place.

Franchitti previously clinched the title in both 2007 and 2010.

The late Dan Wheldon, who died while racing in Las Vegas in October 2011, finished first last year.
