Alex Marshall delighted with gold in front of Scottish supporters

Alex Marshall admits that winning gold in front of his fellow Scots made the success at Commonwealth Games an extra special achievement.

Alex Marshall has admitted that winning gold in front of the Scottish supporters made it an extra special day for him and his partner Paul Foster.

The triumph in the pairs event saw Scotland set a new national record for most gold medals won at a single Commonwealth Games, and Marshall believes that it is the biggest moment in his career.

"This is just fantastic. I have won two golds before but this one tops the lot," Marshall revealed to reporters. "Playing in your own back yard, in front of your own fans - you just can't beat it. Simply the best."

Marshall claimed gold in the same event in 2006 and 2002.
