A Jordan Kyrou-inspired St. Louis Blues survive record-breaking cold temperatures to defeat the Minnesota Wild 6-4 in the NHL Winter Classic at Target Field.

Jordan Kyrou was the star of the show as the St. Louis Blues kicked off 2022 with a 6-4 victory over the Minnesota Wild in the Winter Classic at Target Field.

In what was the coldest outdoor NHL game in history and the third-coldest sporting event ever held in the United Status, the Blues braved temperatures of -10 Fahrenheit to kick off 2022 in ideal fashion.

Relentless pressure from Craig Berube's side ultimately led to David Perron breaking the deadlock with five minutes remaining in the first period, as goaltender Cam Talbot's resistance was finally broken.

Kirill Kaprizov levelled for the Wild moments later, but the Blues proceeded to come out all guns blazing in the second period, with Torey Krug, Vladimir Tarasenko, Ivan Barbashev and Kyrou (2) all netting.

The Wild managed to pull two goals back in the third period, but their efforts were ultimately in vain against the rampant Blues, who marched to their third successive victory over the Minnesota outfit.

The Blues are next in action against the Pittsburgh Penguins on Wednesday, while Dean Evason's side prepare for battle against the Boston Bruins on Thursday.
