Two goals from Alex Danson and strikes from Sarah Thomas (22) and Sally Walton (26) meant the women made a dominant start to their campaign.
Team GB could not have wished for a brighter start to their Group A match at the Riverbank Arena as they look to qualify for the knockout stages.
China are now joined by Great Britain at the top of Group A after the opening round of matches.
Tuesday afternoon will see Team GB play their second match of the qualifying stage against South Korea.
