Great Britain trounce Japan 4-0 in women's hockey opener

Great Britain score an impressive 4-0 win against Japan in their opening match of the women's hockey tournament.

Great Britain have made the perfect start to the women's hockey tournament, beating Japan 4-0 in their opening match.

Two goals from Alex Danson and strikes from Sarah Thomas (22) and Sally Walton (26) meant the women made a dominant start to their campaign.

Team GB could not have wished for a brighter start to their Group A match at the Riverbank Arena as they look to qualify for the knockout stages.

China are now joined by Great Britain at the top of Group A after the opening round of matches.

Tuesday afternoon will see Team GB play their second match of the qualifying stage against South Korea.
