Linda Clement: Defeat to England "a disappointment"

Scotland hockey captain Linda Clement says that the team's defeat to England at the Commonwealth Games was "a disappointment".

Linda Clement has said that it was "a disappointment" for Scotland's women's hockey team to lose to England at the Commonwealth Games earlier today.

The 2-1 defeat was the Scots' second of the competition, and ensures that they will not feature in the semi-finals of the event, throwing doubt over their future funding.

The captain told BBC Sport: "To be honest, it's not at the top of my mind at the moment. The funding issue is something that is likely to be dealt with behind the scenes. It's a disappointment we couldn't win today."

Scotland were considered one of the pre-tournament favourites for the medals.
