Andre Greipel secures victory on stage five of Tour de France

German rider Andre Greipel edges out Mark Cavendish to secure victory on stage five of this year's Tour de France.

Andre Greipel has secured victory for Lotto-Soudal on stage five of the Tour de France.

The German rider, who also won stage two at the weekend, finished strongly to edge out both Peter Sagan and Mark Cavendish.

His compatriot Tony Martin has retained possession of the yellow jersey after finishing safely in the peloton on a day which saw the riders travel from Arras to Amiens.

He remains 12 seconds clear of Great Britain's Chris Froome, while Geraint Thomas is in ninth place.
