Team Sky's Mark Cavendish clinches stage 18

Team Sky rider Mark Cavendish has won stage 18 of the Tour de France, while Bradley Wiggins edges closer to Tour victory as he retains the yellow jersey.

Cavendish came from behind in the final stretch of the stage to clinch the victory, making it the second stage win for the Brit during the Tour.

The remaining two stages of the contest is likely to be a formality for Wiggins now as he extends his overall lead and is expected to be crowned the Tour winner on Sunday.

If successful, Wiggins will become the first British man to win the infamous competition.
