Jason Kenny: 'Today has felt like a dream'

Great Britain's Jason Kenny has described matching Sir Chris Hoy's gold-medal total as "pretty mental" after winning a tense keirin final at the Olympic Games.

After the race had to be restarted twice, Kenny claimed the sixth gold medal of his Olympic career but the Bolton-born rider acknowledged that he had started to suffer from fatigue after a hectic schedule in Rio de Janeiro.

The 28-year-old told BBC Sport: "I turned up in a funny mood, I was happy, I don't know what was wrong today. It felt like a dream. I was so tired I was floating through it. It was brilliant.

"It is pretty mental [matching Sir Chris Hoy]. I was there in Beijing and knew it was special and as the years have gone by I appreciated how amazing he was then and to do same it is amazing."

Earlier in the Games, Kenny won gold in the team sprint and individual sprint respectively.
