Sir Chris Hoy: 'Fifth gold is my greatest'

Sir Chris Hoy declares his fifth gold medal as his "greatest" after helping Team GB to success in the team sprint.

Team GB's Sir Chris Hoy has hailed his latest gold medal as the greatest win of his career.

Hoy was part of the men's sprint team that won gold in world record time this evening, giving the Scot a record-equalling fifth gold medal.

Now, Hoy believes that becoming Britain's joint most successful Olympian ever, alongside Sir Steve Redgrave, has overtaken his first medal in Athens as his most memorable.

"When I crossed the line, I didn't have to look at the scoreboard, I knew we'd won," said Hoy.

"I thought my first win in Athens was the most memorable for me, but this by far is my greatest win.

"It's an incredible feeling."

Hoy's medal was his sixth Olympic medal overall, bringing him just one behind fellow cyclist Bradley Wiggins in the list of Britain's most-decorated Olympians.
