Kenny clinches World Championships keirin gold

Jason Kenny has won gold for Great Britain in the men's keirin at the UCI Track Cycling World Championships in Minsk, Belarus.

The 24-year-old had originally missed out on a place in the final before he was reinstated when Frenchman Francois Pervis was relegated from seventh place to 12th place.

Kenny pulled away from Germany's Maximilian Levy on a dramatic final lap to clinch the title.

"It was unbelievable," Kenny told BBC Sport.

"I was suffering a crisis of confidence after coming sixth in the team pursuit, but a bit of luck finally went my way and the final unfolded perfectly."

Kenny's gold came just minutes after Britain's Simon Yates was crowned men's points race champion.
