Rigoberto Uran to miss World Championship team time trial

Colombia's Rigoberto Uran will miss out on the World Championship team time trial as he suffers with asthmatic bronchitis.

Omega Pharma-QuickStep rider Rigoberto Uran has been ruled out of the World Championships team time trial in Ponferrada, Spain on Sunday as he has failed to recover from the asthmatic bronchitis that cut short his Vuelta a Espana.

The 27-year-old Colombian was in sixth place in the general classification at the Vuelta a Espana but was forced to abandon at the beginning of the third week.

Even without Uran, Omega Pharma-QuickStep will start the event as favourites thanks to the availability of three-time individual time trial champion Tony Martin.

The Belgian team also won the first two editions of the team time trial at the World Championships, in Valkenburg in 2012 and in Florence 12 months ago.
