Laura Trott to join Matrix Fitness - Vulpine next year

Olympic champion Laura Trott has confirmed that she will be leaving Wiggle Honda to join Matrix Fitness - Vulpine next year.

Trott enjoyed success in the 2013 Women's Grand Prix and this year's British national road race with Wiggle Honda, but has decided to sacrifice the opportunity to compete in the top tier of cycling as she steps up her preparations for the 2016 Olympics.

"I have had an amazing two years with Wiggle Honda," the 22-year-old told Sky Sports News. "They have done all they can with me and really supported me as a track rider, but I have decided to move away from Wiggle and join the Matrix Vulpine team.

"With it being two years away from Rio, I want to knuckle down and cut out as much travelling as I can and I feel Matrix is the way to do that."

Trott has signed a one-year deal with Matrix Fitness - Vulpine.
