Matt Prior's cycling team apply for second-tier licence

The cycling team founded by former England wicket-keeper Matt Prior applies for a Pro-Continental licence, which would allow them to compete in second-tier events.

One Pro Cycling have applied for a Pro-Continental licence which would enable them to feature in UCI events.

The team, which was founded by former England wicket-keeper Matt Prior, finished in second place in their first season on the UK Tour.

That has resulted in a bid being made to take part in second-tier events on the world stage, with Prior describing the move as "another small step towards our long-term ambition to participate in the biggest races in the world, including the Tour de France".

Prior founded the team late in 2014, before he retired from all forms of cricket last month.
