Daniel Patten delighted with selection for Team Wiggins

English rider Daniel Patten admits that deciding to join Sir Bradley Wiggins's new cycling team was "a no-brainer".

English rider Daniel Patten has revealed that he "can't wait" to link up with Sir Bradley Wiggins after being selected for the Olympian's new cycling team.

Team Wiggins has been created to help the four-time gold medal winner prepare for the next Games in Rio de Janeiro in 2016, and Patten, who has spent much of his career in the United States and Belgium, has admitted that he didn't require much thinking time after receiving the call.

The 28-year-old told BBC Essex: "After a lot of years with a lack of options, this was a no-brainer. As soon as talk of possibly joining the team came about, my mind was set on that one thing.

"To be riding alongside such a rider, who's had the career he's had, I couldn't ask for more this season."

Wiggins and Patten will make up a nine-man team that also includes Steven Burke, Mark Christian, Jon Dibben, Owain Doull, Iain Paton, Andy Tennant and Michael Thompson.
