Kristoff wins the Tour of Flanders

Team Katusha's Norwegian rider Alexander Kristoff claimed victory in an incident-packed Tour of Flanders after holding off the challenge of Niki Terpstra.

Kristoff, 27, and Etixx-Quick Step's Terpstra, 30, launched a breakaway attack with 27km to go, then held off a late charge from Peter Sagan and Greg van Avermaet, leaving Kristoff to beat Terpstra to the line.

Earlier, a team service car had clipped Trek's Jesse Sergent, leaving the New Zealander with a broken left collarbone. A second service car then struck the FDJ team car, leaving Sebastien Chavanel on the road.

Team Sky's Geraint Thomas, who was among the pre-race favourites, could only manage 14th place.
