Tour de France champion Chris Froome wins Velo d'Or award

Tour de France champion Chris Froome has scooped the Velo d'Or award following his triumph earlier this year.

Team Sky announced that Froome has been named as the best rider of 2013 following a poll.

French publication Velo Magazine set up the vote, with Froome prevailing over the likes of Giro d'Italia winner Vincenzo Nibali.

Meanwhile, Colombia's Nairo Quintana has been voted as prospect of the year.
