Chris Froome has dropped out of the road race at the Cycling World Championships in Tuscany.

Froome faced an uphill task on the hilly course today, but he was determined to add the world title to his Tour de France win.

The course was as tough as expected, with torrential rain causing plenty of difficulties for all those in the race.

Froome decided to abandon due to the conditions, joining fellow Brit Sir Bradley Wiggins.

Currently, Italy are still controlling the front group in the race.
