Mark Cavendish: 'Roberto Ferrari should be ashamed'

Mark Cavendish says that Roberto Ferrari should be "ashamed" for knocking the Team Sky rider off his bike during the final stage of the Giro d'Italia.

Team Sky rider Mark Cavendish has urged Roberto Ferrari to be punished after causing the British cyclist to fall during the Giro d'Italia.

The world champion was knocked from his bike when the front wheel was clipped following Ferrari's swift move into Cavendish's path.

The 26-year-old tweeted: "Crashing at 75kph isn't nice! Nor is seeing Roberto Ferrari's manoeuvre. Should be ashamed to take out Pink, Red & World Champ jerseys.

"Apparently Roberto Ferrari has said to journalists, when asked about the incident, that he can't see what happens behind him & doesn't care. Is the team of Roberto Ferrari or the UCI going to do the right thing? Other riders, including myself, have been sent home for much less."

Cavendish should be fit enough to finish the race after he carried his bike to the finish line after suffering the crash.
