Great Britain's Zara Dampney, Shauna Mullin stumble to 2-0 defeat by Russia

Great Britain's beach volleyball duo Zara Dampney and Shauna Mullin have been defeated 2-0 by Russia in the women's preliminary.

The British pair started the tussle well but couldn't find enough to take the lead as Russian duo Ekaterina Khomyakova and Evgeniya Ukolova edged the first set 25-23 after some impressive net work and strong serves.

The Brit's suffered in the second set as the Russian pair, who continued to dominate the court, wrapped up the contest 21-13 in 17 minutes.

Dampney and Mullin have only recorded one victory - against Canada - which was followed by a defeat against Italy last Sunday.
