Swiss beach volleyball duo battle heat to defeat Austria in Baku

Switzerland have overcome Austria and the heat to advance to the semi-final of the men's beach volleyball in Baku.

The Swiss pair of Gabriel Kissling and Alexei Strasser beat Tobias Winter and Lorenz Peter Petutschnig 2-1 (18-21, 23-21, 15-12) earlier this afternoon.

Strasser told reporters: "It was more of a war than a high-level beach volleyball game. It was fighting to get the balls and maybe not even finishing them and then fighting again until the opponent makes a mistake."

Switzerland will face Russian Federation for a place in the final, while Latvia and Czech Republic make up the other semi-final, with both matches taking place tomorrow.
