Silver: 'No plans for expansion'

NBA commissioner Adam Silver has insisted that the league has no plans to expand in the near future.

Silver claims that the current focus is to make sure that the NBA's 30 teams are financially secure, rather than look at the possibility of international teams or including more franchises from the USA in the league.

"It's not on the top of my list right now, and I tell you that goes for domestic expansion as well, largely because I want to ensure that we have a healthy 30-team league," he told reporters.

"As powerful as the gains were that we made in the last collective bargaining agreement, we still don't have a league that has 30 teams that are financially viable."

Silver replaced Davd Stern as commissioner on February 1.
