World number one Lee Chong Wei may miss World Championships

World number one Lee Chong Wei may be forced to miss the World Championships through injury.

World number one Lee Chong Wei may miss this summer's World Championships through injury.

Lee, 31, has already announced that he will not defend his men's singles title at the Commonwealth Games after aggravating a thigh injury.

"The injury is quite serious and we are not sure how long it will take for him to get back on his feet. It takes a while for sports injuries to heal," said Malaysian national head coach Rashid Sidek.

"He is tired and needs a break. Hopefully, he will have a good rest now and be ready for the World Championships."

The World Championships are due to be held in Copenhagen in August.
