Asli Cakir Alptekin, the women's 1,500m gold medallist at London 2012, faces a lifetime ban after being found guilty of doping.

Women's 1,500m Olympic champion Asli Cakir Alptekin could be banned for life after being found guilty of doping.

It is not the first time that the Turk has been charged for doping. She was handed a two-year ban in 2004 after a positive doping test at the World Junior Championships.

The International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) has now provisionally suspended her on the basis of abnormal blood values from her biological passport.
