Grabarz bows out after high jump failure

Great Britain's Robert Grabarz has failed to reach the final of the men's high jump at the World Athletics Championships in Beijing this morning.

Grabarz, who won Olympic bronze in London 2012, enjoyed a promising start on the road to the final with clearances of 2.22m and 2.26m.

However, the 27-year-old - GB's only representative in the morning session of day seven - then suffered three successive failures at 2.29m as he bows out in qualifying.

Meanwhile, Australian Brandon Starc - brother of cricketer Mitchell - beat his personal-best leap of 2.31m to cruise into the final.
