Team GB's Mo Farah trips, but qualifies for 5,000m final at Rio Olympics

Three-time Olympic champion Mo Farah has qualified for the 5,000m final in Rio de Janeiro, despite stumbling in heat one.

The 33-year-old, who tripped while on his way to winning gold in the 10,000m final on Saturday, recorded a time of 13 minutes 25.25 seconds today.

Farah is defending the gold that he won at London 2012, but he suffered a brief scare during the final lap of qualifying.

The long-distance runner's fellow Brit Andrew Butchart also made the cut after crossing the line fifth in heat two, but there was no spot in the final for Tom Farrell as he finished 20th.

In Farah's heat, Ethiopia's Hagos Gebrhiwet came first in 13:24.65, while Albert Kibichii Rop of Bahrain was second.

The final will be held on Saturday.
