GB's Woods out of T54 800m final

Great Britain's Paralympic wheelchair sprinter Shelly Woods has failed to qualify for the final of the women's T54 800m.

The Brit, who has been open about her preference for marathon running as opposed to track and field events, was unable to qualify in the two automatic spots and was not quick enough to secure a place as one of the fastest losers.

Edith Wolf of Switzerland stormed past the finish line after taking an early lead and while Woods tried to close down China's Dong Hongjiao for the second qualifying spot, it wasn't to be and the Brit recorded a time of 1:56.39.

Woods's compatriot Jade Jones also failed to reach the final after finishing fifth in her heat.
