Weir in GB team for marathon race

David Weir has been included in the six-person Great Britain and Northern Ireland team for the marathon race at the IPC World Championships.

The six-time Paralympic champion will take part in the 26.2-mile race at the London Marathon on April 26, while Shelly Woods, Jade Jones, Derek Rae, Rob Smith and Simon Lawson will also compete.

Weir, who has won the London race six times, is due to feature in the Worlds in October in Doha.

The 35-year-old was ruled out of the European Championships in Swansea last August due to injury.
