Laura Muir "pleased" with Birmingham Diamond League display

Laura Muir expresses her joy at recording a personal-best time in the 800m event at the Birmingham Diamond League meeting.

Laura Muir has expressed her delight at her performance in this afternoon's Diamond League meeting in Birmingham.

Muir set a new personal best in the 800m event at the Alexander Stadium, finishing in 2:00.42 to clinch second place behind Kenya's Eunice Sum.

The 22-year-old was competing just three days after finishing fourth in the 1,500m in Rome, and she admitted that she thought fatigue would be an issue.

"I didn't really know how the legs would fare today after racing in Rome but I was really pleased with my performance out there," she told reporters.

"I knew I was in PB shape and to do it on tired legs is a bonus."

Muir's fellow Brit Alison Leonard crossed the line in fourth place.
