Richard Kilty hopeful ahead of World Indoor Championships

British sprinter Richard Kilty is keen to take his chance after being selected to represent Great Britain at the World Indoor Championships.

British sprinter Richard Kilty is hopeful of success in the 60m at next month's World Indoor Championships after being selected in place of James Dasaolu.

Dasaolu has had to pull out with injury after winning the British Grand Prix last weekend, and Kilty is keen to take his chance.

The 24-year-old finished just 0.03s behind his compatriot and beat the likes of Christophe Lemaitre and Mike Rodgers in that race.

"I've shown some consistency this season and I was fairly pleased to beat some world class athletes last weekend," Kilty told BBC Sport. "I think I can run sub 6.50.

"I was a little fatigued in Birmingham on Saturday having raced three hard rounds at the UK trials. There are little things to improve on technically.

"If I can run that perfect race, there's so many guys within a couple of hundredths that I think I can go to Poland and win."

Dwain Chambers will also compete in the 60m for Great Britain next month.
