Jan Bartu: 'GB pentathletes have work to do after disappointing World Champs'

GB pentathlon performance director Jan Bartu says that the team have "work to do" after a disappointing campaign at the World Championships.

GB pentathlon performance director Jan Bartu has claimed that the team have "work to do" after failing to impress at the World Championships in Berlin.

Jamie Cooke was the highest-placed Brit in 22nd in the men's event, while defending women's world champion Samantha Murray finished in fifth place.

Duo Thomas Toolis and Kate French could only muster a 13th-place finish in the mixed relay at the weekend.

"As far as the girls are concerned there's a real sort of disappointment not seeing Kate French, at least, in the finals," Bartu told BBC Sport. "We have some work to do up to the European Championships in Bath."

Britain are yet to have a pentathlete qualify for the Olympics in Rio next year.
