Farah reveals he was airlifted to hospital

Double Olympic champion Mo Farah has revealed that he was airlifted to hospital after collapsing following a training run ahead of the Commonwealth Games.

The long-distance runner was forced to withdraw from the multi-sport event in Glasgow, but has only now revealed the extent of his health issues.

"I had a tooth taken out and it got infected," BBC Sport quotes Farah as saying. "I went for a run, came back and collapsed.

"I was in so much pain from my stomach. I had to be airlifted to hospital. They thought something was going on with my heart."

Despite concerns over his health, Farah has insisted that he has fully recovered and will compete at the European Championships in Zurich, which get underway today and will conclude on Sunday.
