Abiodun Oyepitan qualifies for 100m semi-final

Team GB's Abiodun Oyepitan has qualified for the women's 100m semi-final this evening.

Oyepitan finished fifth in her 100m heat, missing out on automatic qualification in the process, but qualified as a fastest loser.

Oyepitan, who reached the 100m final in Athens eight years ago, ran a time of 11.22s, with judges having to look at the thousandths of a second difference between her and Uzbekistan's Guzel Khubbieva.

Jamaica's Veronica Campbell-Brown, a favourite for the event, won in a time of 10.94s, joining fellow favourite Carmela Jeter in the semi-finals.

Meanwhile, Bulgaria's Ivet Lalova and Nigeria's Gloria Asumnu finished in second and third respectively to book their spots in the semis.
