Child reaches 400m hurdles semi-finals

Team GB's Eilidh Child qualified for the semi-finals of the women's 400m hurdles this evening.

The Scottish runner achieved the feat by finishing third in the opening heat of the night in the Olympic Stadium in a time of 56.14 seconds.

Despite booking her place in the next round, Child was unhappy with her performance.

"I don't know what happened on the back straight," she told BBC Sport. "My stride was all over the place and I panicked."

Zuzana Hejnova won the race in 53.96 seconds, while America's T'erea Brown took second spot.

The final qualifying spot went to Canada's Sarah-Lynn Wells in fourth.
