Team GB loses marathon runner Dave Webb through injury

Great Britain marathon runner Dave Webb has been forced out of London 2012 through injury.

The British Olympic Association have announced today that they have deselected the athlete due to a lack of fitness.

Webb had been a surprise addition to the squad back in April, with his best time of 2hr 15min 48sec falling short of the required 'A' qualification standard.

It is understood that Webb will not be replaced at this late stage, leaving Scott Overall as the sole member of Team GB's marathon squad.
