Greg Rutherford: 'I'm here to win gold'

Rutherford confident ahead of final

Greg Rutherford has insisted that he will be heading into the final of the long jump full of confidence after his impressive display in qualifying.

The British athlete achieved the required distance to book his spot in tonight's final but he has claimed that he will be targeting the gold medal after recording 8.08 metres in the pit on Friday.

Rutherford said: "I'll be going into the final pretty confident. It was probably one of the best jumps of my life. It's what I came here to do and it's nice to be jumping far.

"I came here to win it, I said that from the start. My body feels good and I have the best team I could want around me."

Team GB's Chris Tomlinson will also compete in the final.
