Lawrence Okoye confident ahead of final

Great Britain's Lawrence Okoye feels that he can compete for a medal in the final of the men's discus.

Lawrence Okoye believes that he is capable of claiming a medal during tomorrow's discus final at the London Olympics.

The 20-year-old left it late in qualifying, ensuring his place in the final with a throw of 65.28m in what was his very last attempt earlier today.

Having secured his progression, Okoye has now turned his attention to the final.

"It's been a hard two years. I've got a lot of work to do to ensure that I finish it well," he told BBC Sport.

"Tomorrow is a different story. If I throw my best I will be up there."

Okoye's personal best currently stands at 68.24m.
