Greg Rutherford through to long jump final

British record holder Greg Rutherford qualifies for the final of the long jump event at the European Championships.

Olympic and Commonwealth champion Greg Rutherford has progressed to the final of the long jump at the European Championships this evening.

The Briton was just short of the qualification target of 8m with his first jump, but posted a distance of 8.03m with his second effort.

The 27-year-old won gold in Glasgow last month, jumping 8.20m in the final at Hampden Park.

The final of the event takes place on Sunday.
