Great Britain athlete Eilidh Child has won the European Championships 400m hurdles gold medal in Zurich.

Despite her rivals gaining ground towards the end, the 27-year-old concentrated on the task ahead and made no mistakes to seize first place in a time of 54.48.

Europe's number one didn't celebrate immediately, preferring to wait for the official confirmation.

Ukraine's Hanna Titimets grabbed silver after running a personal best of 54.56, while defending champion Irina Davydova of the Russian Federation finished in third place.
