Paula Radcliffe "excited" to see veteran Hayley Haining in marathon

Radcliffe singles out veteran Haining

England marathon legend Paula Radcliffe has singled out Hayley Haining as a competitor to watch in the Commonwealth Games women's marathon.

The 42-year-old veterinary pathologist, competing for Scotland, won the British schools cross-country championship in 1985, and has been taking part in events ever since.

Radcliffe told BBC Sport: "I'm really excited to see Hayley Haining.

"I competed with her in the World Cross Country Championships in 1991 and to see her here, still competing 23 years after her first championships, is an amazing achievement.

"She's a vet who works here in Glasgow, so this is her home Games. I am so envious of her, I'd love to still be out there competing."

The women's marathon is taking place this morning.
