Dina Asher-Smith breaks British record

Dina Asher-Smith has made history at the Anniversary Games in London by becoming the first British woman to run a 100m race in under 11 seconds.

Earlier this year, Asher-Smith ran 11.02s to set a new national record, but on Saturday afternoon, she bettered that effort by recording a time of 10.99s in her heat.

The 19-year-old told BBC Sport: "It means a lot. I am still a bit confused by it all, but I am trying to keep things down for the final. I still have stuff to improve, the race was a little messy."

Asher-Smith will return for the final later today as she continues her preparations for the World Championships in Beijing next month.
