UK Athletics: 'Absolutely no concerns over Alberto Salazar'

UK Athletics insist that they have "absolutely no concerns" over Alberto Salazar's coaching methods amid claims that he doped American athlete Galen Rupp.

UK Athletics have insisted that they have "absolutely no concerns" over Alberto Salazar's coaching methods following claims that he was involved in doping.

The American, who coaches Mo Farah, was accused of doping American long-distance runner Galen Rupp in 2002 in a recent BBC Panorama documentary. There is no suggestion that Farah has been involved in any doping.

Salazar, 56, has denied the allegations, while Farah has also come out in defence of his coach.

"Whilst acknowledging the gravity of the allegations, UK Athletics can confirm it has had absolutely no concerns over the conduct and coaching methods of Alberto Salazar in relation to Mo Farah or in his role as an endurance consultant," read an official statement.

"As an organisation with a proven anti-doping commitment we view the allegations made with utmost seriousness. It is the role of the appropriate independent anti-doping agencies to investigate these further."

Farah is due to speak to the media later today ahead of Sunday's Birmingham Grand Prix.
