Jenkins wins World Triathlon title

Helen Jenkins has won the World Triathlon title at the season-ending Grand Final in Beijing.

The Welsh triathlete finished second in China to ensure she took the title.

The 27-year-old headed to the seventh and final race of the season knowing that a top-three finish would be enough to secure glory.

Jenkins took second place behind Andrea Hewitt of New Zealand, with the American Sarah Groff in third.

It was the third time this year that Jenkins finished second as she made up for a slow start in Sydney at the start of the year, where she finished 33rd after a bike crash.

She went on to win the London race at the Olympic course in Hyde Park and she made sure of the overall title with her runner-up place in Beijing.

Alistair Brownlee won the men's event on Saturday.
