Mo Farah and Jessica Ennis are honoured by the British Athletics Writers' Association for their gold medal-winning performances at London 2012.

Two of Great Britain's London 2012 heroes, Mo Farah and Jessica Ennis, have been named Athletes of the Year by the British Athletics Writers' Association.

Farah created history by becoming the first Briton to win an Olympic long-distance gold medal with victory in the 10,000m.

Just a week later he took the 5,000m title to complete an incredible double that has only been achieved by six previous Olympians.

Meanwhile Ennis, described as the face of the Games by Lord Sebastian Coe, claimed a British record on her way to capturing gold in the heptathlon.

Both athletes are also considered serious contenders for this year's Sports Personality of the Year prize.
