Marlon Devonish slams Nike over Justin Gatlin contract

Marlon Devonish says that Nike's decision to offer a new contract to Justin Gatlin "doesn't sit well" with him.

Olympic gold medallist Marlon Devonish has said that he doesn't agree with Nike's decision to hand Justin Gatlin a new sponsorship deal.

The American sprinter has served two doping bans, which includes a four-year suspension between 2006 to 2010.

Gatlin, who recorded the fastest 100m time in 2014, was previously sponsored by Nike before his second ban in 2011.

"No, it doesn't sit well with me," BBC Sport quotes Devonish as saying.

"But Gatlin has served his ban according to the rules: if people don't like that, change the rules."

Nike have also revealed that they have no plans to offer Gatlin's US teammate Tyson Gay a contract, following his own return from a drugs ban.
