Cardiff to host 2016 World Half-Marathon Championships

Cardiff have been awarded the right to host the World Half-Marathon Championships in 2016.

The organisers announced the news in Monaco today, stating that they want 20,016 fun runners to enter the race.

"It is a landmark moment for Wales and for the city of Cardiff," BBC Sport quotes a spokesman as saying.

The race will be staged on the existing half-marathon course in Cardiff.
