Webb 'bitterly disappointed' to miss Olympics

Great Britain marathon runner David Webb has expressed his frustration at missing out on the Olympics through injury.

The 30-year-old failed a fitness test after suffering a stress fracture during the Dartford Half Marathon.

He told BBC Sport: "I've done everything I could to make that start line unfortunately my body isn't up to it on this occasion.

"It's a bitter disappointment given the hard work over a number of years and the excitement of competing in a home Olympics.

"It's hard to take that that is now something I won't be competing in but I have to aim to come back stronger now."

Webb, who was a surprise addition to the Team GB squad back in April, will not be replaced for the marathon event on August 12.
