The Olympic flame symbolising the London 2012 Games blew out shortly after it was lit in Olympia, Greece.
The torch began its journey to England's capital today after a ceremony within the ruins of the Temple of Hera was conducted to indicate the countdown to this summer's Games.
It is believed that the flame initially blew out moments after it was lit in Greece and then swiftly set alight once again to resume the relay, according to BBC Sport.
The torch will travel around Greece on a seven-day tour before flying to Britain on May 18 for a 70-day relay around the United Kingdom.
