Mo Farah: 'I will be ready for Commonwealth Games'

Mo Farah is optimistic that an abdominal problem will not prevent him from competing at the Commonwealth Games.

Mo Farah has claimed that he is confident of returning to full fitness in time to compete in the Commonwealth Games later this month.

The double Olympic champion was forced to pull out of this week's Diamond Meeting in Glasgow due to an abdominal problem, but the 31-year-old is optimistic that he will be ready to return to the city to race in the 5,000m and 10,000m.

"Sorry to everyone in Scotland but I won't be able to make it there this week," Farah revealed in a statement after confirming that he will undergo further tests on the problem in London this week.

"I hope to resume training in the next few days and aim to run in the London Anniversary Games on July 20 and then the Commonwealth Games the following week."

The 5,000m takes place on July 27.
